Awesommeee music video from The Japanese Popstars featuring Green Velvet for the song "Let Go". One of the best "illustration" music videos I've seen.

The Future of Books
IDEO has created an innovative design for the future of books. To create a more informative and interactive way to read, IDEO has designed three different "programs" that integrate social networking and information technology into reading. New experiences can be made with easy access group discussions, and information can be referenced through side notes and historical cross checking. I think it's a great concept and would encourage many young people to read. Take a look at the video to see for yourself!

David Smith
Beautiful short documentary on sign artist, David Smith. The video shows the intricate craftsmanship and process behind glass embossing and hand-lettered signs. Today this is a rare art form, but its history is rich. While watching this video you truly appreciate the process and craft of Smith's work.

Siemon Allen
Saw Siemon Allen talk about his work this past Wednesday at the Anderson Gallery in Richmond, Virginia. The scale and complexity of his work is beautiful. Siemon Allen is from South Africa, and his work explores the idea of the South African identity.
"...most of my work, is the result of my being in the United States, where I find myself looking at the image of South Africa as I might reconstruct it—through historical artifacts (stamps), through current media (newspapers) or through received audio (sampled sound works). To some extent it speaks to what I feel is a kind of separation from the source, and leads me to consider how much of this work is, at its core, an investigation into notions of branding and identity through displacement."
If you're in the Richmond, Virginia area, Siemon Allen's work will be on view until October 31st at the Anderson Gallery.
